First Black Isle climate café - No 19 Avoch

26 April 2023

Wednesday 26 April   6.30 - 8.30    No19 café in Avoch

The climate café is a space for all to come and talk about how climate change has impacted you and your community.  Have a cuppa with others and look at practical ways we can address climate change through tackling waste and consumption in your home and community.

A relatively small group of eight people attended this event, and enjoyed refreshments 'on the house', courtesy of the No19 Cafe and the Waste Project.

We were asked to estimate our individual carbon footprints using an online survey app, and for our responses to the question 'what is the main cause of climate change?'  Subsequent discussion revealed awareness of the danger of such events merely 'preaching to the converted', and of the need for both far more serious action on the part of governments and corporations, and promotion of more co-operative action within local communities.

The group approved a proposal to hold further similar events in future, which it is hoped will involve more people.
